Public Warning Systems

The Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division organizes a number of public warning systems to alert the public when there are public protective actions that are being ordered or recommended based upon an emergency.  Each system independently has it's strengths and limitations.  By having access to multiple systems, we are able to give appropriate instructions and information to the greatest number of people.

The key to remember with alerts; they are designed to get your attention so you seek more detailed information.  Once we have your attention we provide a notification;  this is more detailed information that should be sought by tuning into your local broadcast stations and local media.
