Explorer Qualifications

The Explorer Post 602 welcomes those who share an interest in learning about law enforcement as a career. During your journey you will learn and practice many important life-skills.  Some of these valuable skills include leadership, team building, community service, problem solving, responsibility, communication and accountability. These traits are not learned overnight, it is a process. 


Members must meet the following qualifications:

  • 14-20 years of age.
  • Residing in Berrien County.
  • Maintaining a "C" average or higher.
  • Must have a clear criminal history.
  • Those willing to follow the guidelines of the organization including attending monthly meetings and events.
  • Paying a .00 annual membership fee.
  • Buying approved boots, pants and misc. items.
  • Return the three applications on the previous page and submit it to the Berrien County Sheriff's Office.
